The Volkswagen Beetle: The Car Full Of Fun

The amazing Volkswagen Beetle. It's the car that gives us something to do when we're bored while riding in the car. It's the car that gives us a true reason to go riding around. It's the car that's been with us since the 1930s. It's the car that creates fun whenever someone passes by it. It is the one car that just about everyone loves. It's been with us through wars, and depressions... it is... our one true car. The Beetle was first created in Germany in the 1930s. And I said just about everyone loves it because its almost impossible not to, I mean even if you're not the violent type you get to punch someone when it passes by. What's not to like about that? 

The VW Beetle has been known by many different names over the years, the Punch-buggy, the Bug, and the Beetle, and other names based on the color of the Beetle.  However, when it was invented, it was called Volkswagen meaning "people's car."

The older models of the VW Beetle were built to be air tight, so the legend was, no water could come in if they were submerged. This made it so that the cars could basically float on water! Wouldn't that be nice if you didn't put your brake on and your car accidentally floated into a lake and you could just go get it, and it wouldn't have sunk by the time you got there? However, by the same token, it could also be an issue for VW owners in climates with intense heat who weren't aware of the air tight structure of the Beetle. Many uninformed owners returned to their cars after they had left their windows rolled up tight in extreme heat and found, to their dismay, their windows had been blown out!

As you probably know, the VW Beetle (when painted red) often resembles a Ladybug. VW and some car accessory companies even make circular black magnets to stick on your red bug and of course, it transforms into a Ladybug car! I've actually seen people with red VW Beetles driving down the road with black magnets all over their red bug with the word "Ladybug" printed on their windshield in curly-cue letters. Volkswagon actually has the option of adding little "inspiration pods" to decorate the inside of your VW.  Most people fill them with oversized daisies.  There are also magnetic daisies to dress up your Bug (think Herbie, the Love Bug!) and to give it a little 60's flair.

One crazy thing that you can get for your bug is a nice, big, pair of eyelashes. Yes, I did say eyelashes, its very strange, but kind of cute at the same time. The eyelashes are very long and all you have to do is attach them to your headlights and you're good to go! Another cute Beetle accessory is daisy hubcaps! They'd probably look best on a yellow, white, or black Beetle. You might attract some bees, though! And one last accessory, a life-size wind up key that you can stick to the back of your VW and it will look like a cute little (or should I say huge) toy car!

Overall The VW Beetle is a great, fun car for any family to own, unless of course your family is too big to fit in the compact, beetle-like car. The name really does suit it, all of its names do. Let's hope that Volkswagen will bring back the original body style in a few years for all the nostalgia lovers out there and then keep making them for MANY, MANY years to come, so everyone will have a chance to enjoy the car that changed the world!
